African Business Women Network(ABWN)

KAWBO is a member of the African Business Women Network (ABWN) a partnership
between local business women organizations throughout Africa, Vital Voices Global
Partnership and ExxonMobil Foundation.

The Africa Businesswomen’s Network (ABWN) was formed in 2008 as a partnership among local businesswomen’s organizations throughout Africa, Vital Voices Global Partnership, a non-profit organization based in Washington, DC, and our lead sponsor, the ExxonMobil Women’s Economic Opportunity Initiative. It was started because of the perceived need to provide women entrepreneurs and professional women with training in leadership and business development, advocacy for business opportunities and an improved business climate.

The goal of the ABWN is to build and support a network of women associations in Africa in order to grow the number of women succeeding as entrepreneurs and leaders in the corporate world, to raise the profile and credibility of women in business, to foster global networking opportunities among businesswomen and to advocate for policies that expand economic opportunity for women.

The network has been a formidable force in advancing issues affecting women in business and advocating for an equal playing field for women in business and management. The other 5 members of this network are:
1. Uganda Women Entrepreneurs Association Limited (UWEAL) –Uganda
2. Cameroon Business Women’s Network (CBWN) – Cameroon
3. Businesswomen’s Association of South Africa (BWA) –South Africa
4. Eagle Women Empowerment Club (EWEC) -Ghana
5. Women in Management and Business (WIMBIZ) –Nigeria
